Interclub

PFSC is a part of the Southern California Interclub Association of Figure Skating Clubs. Interclub was founded on May 31, 1955 and consists of US Figure Skating member clubs located in Southern California.

Interclub now offers two different grants for skaters to apply for. Each award comes with a $500 grant.

Sonnhalter Award: These awards are given to reward skaters who are well-rounded individuals in skang, school, and volunteerism who have been recommended by their respective home clubs. Applications must be received by the Sonnhalter committee chair not later than August 25, 2023. Each year two skaters are selected by an Interclub committee. One grant is for Novice skaters and above, and one is for Intermediate through Juvenile skaters.

Chado Award: This is the inaugural year for this award. This scholarship was created to honor Cathy Machado, who was the first ever Mexican American to represent the U.S. at the 1956 Winter Olympics and would pave the way for future skaters of color. The committee will take into consideration each applicant’s articulation of what Diversity, Equity and Inclusion means and how it applies to their personal lived experiences. The committee is looking to hear from authentic voices within our skating community. The (extended) deadline to apply is August 25, 2023.
